Story Behind the Song: 'Just to See You Smile'
Tony Martin knows a hit when he hears it. He knows well enough that when his co-writer Mark Nesler started playing a work-in-progress called "Just to See You Smile," they threw out the tune they had been working on, and instead started piecing together a future smash hit for Tim McGraw. Martin recalled the story of "Smile" with Bart Herbison, executive director of Nashville Songwriters Association International.
