“I have never received any awards. I have no challenge because I’m in a league of my own,” said the legendary pint-sized actor Lucky-Boy Mtshali.Hailing from Meadowlands, Soweto, Mtshali although short he has a personality larger than life.
“I thank God for my height. I took advantage of it and it has paid off,” he proudly states.
During the interview at the Soweto Today office, he comfortably sat on a single-seat couch which towered behind him like a king while the outspoken actor’s feet swung at the end of the seat.
He reminisces about his 40-year-old career where he shared the stage with greats such as Joe Mafela, Joe Lopez and Ndaba Mhlongo amongst others.Mtshali told how as a youngster he loved entertaining. “I used to dance at weddings and bars until someone spotted me.”
