ROCKFORD — Holland Zander remembers a ride home from school when her mom, Karen Zander, read aloud the note from her teacher.

“She sings a lot in class when she’s supposed to be listening,” Holland said.

Music was part of growing up Cheap Trick. Now 35, the daughter of lead singer Robin Zander is still singing. She is the vocalist for The Sensations, a popular cover band that plays six shows a month in the region. She's also part of an exclusive club: the singing sons and daughter of Cheap Trick members.

While Cheap Trick plays Rockford every five years or so, some of the band’s brood can usually be found weekly on stages in the Forest City.

Daxx Nielsen, who lived in California and toured internationally on drums with different groups, now tours as a drummer with Cheap Trick. When he is in town, he sits in on drums with his brother, Miles, and his band Miles Nielsen
