At the age of two, her parents divorced, and her father remarried Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. Fisher developed a love for books during her childhood, earning her the nickname "bookworm" in her family. She immersed herself in classic literature and wrote poetry during her early years.
Fisher left Beverly Hills High School to pursue an acting career and enrolled at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London in 1973.
